Wii're getting into it!

I should probably wait for Katy to be here when I blog this, because she might have more to add.

The story starts out that yesterday I decided to stop by Wells to see Katy, and talk to her about dinner and what we were going to do that night. She said that we would have dinner, and watch American Idol. That was it. well, her co-worker invited us to go watch American Idol at her house. It turned out that we would be going over to her house with dinner, and they would make a dessert. We watched American Idol and also the new show, "Are you smarter than a 5th Grader." it was pretty funny. After that we decided to try out their new Wii gaming console.

Now, I've seen the TV ads about the pros and cons of the Wii, and I've heard many things about how they work. they really work you hard. Katy started with Boxing against her C0-worker. They got all set up, and started the round. IT WAS INTENSE!!! Katy is throwing punches left and right, upper-cutting, side swiping, and just flailing about mostly. To mildly put it, Katy knocked her out in the first round! She had even broken a sweat! Once we had our fill, we packed up and left for home.

It is now the day after, and it is a sad story. We are sore... Katy especially. She had thrown so many punches that her shoulders had overloaded.

It was alot of fun to get your body going, and competing at things like Tennis, Baseball, Golf, and of course Boxing; without even having to have to leave your house. If it were cheaper, we might find a way to afford it, but as of right now, we are going to get our exercise (i know, sad excuse for exercise, but you should try it out. It really works you out) elsewhere. Speaking of which, I am off to swimming.

Talk to you all later,

Huntsmans

Help!

So I have a few problems I can not seem to solve myself... any suggestions or solutions would be great!

1) I have a clear shower curtain, I think all my sisters have seen it? But it is covered by water stains, which is to be expected but it is really starting to bother me. I have tried washing it in the washer, spraying it at off at the car wash with high pressure water, and scrubbing it with good old fashioned elbow grease! It is looking slightly better but still is rather gross. Any suggestions?

2) We got an i-pod. It is really great and we like it a lot, but we have two different computers with itunes on each. The one we don't use at all anymore but I really would like to have the music that is on the itunes system. I don't have the Cd's any more or I bought the music, and don't want to pay for it again. We have tried a lot of things but I think, no I know, that I struggle. Chad has tried a couple of things but the older comp that we want the stuff off of, has no burner and little to no Internet connection? Dad put it together for me before I left for college my freshman year, so it has not been used in a while!?!

3) Chad and I have done really well with Braxton and his schedule. We have really tried to keep him healthy and on a good realistic schedule. Now we have been very successful, UP TO NOW!! I know that kids kind of make their own schedule and that is OK, but I am struggling with him. He will sleep for twenty then up for five then back down for two hours? He will eat two ounces at nine and then scream at me to feed him an hour later? I know this is normal for babies but if you have been around Braxton he really is not normal. He is always happy hardly ever cries and he has been sleeping through the night since we brought him home. So any suggestions? Do I need to just chill and let him figure it out? Do I need to push the schedule harder? HELP!

Thanks to all of you who help me with my simple problems! KATY

MOVING?!?!?!?!?

It seems that life never slows down, and here is PROOF!...

So we mentioned in a blog earlier that things were not going so well with our managing position. Today we went to look at some apts that are for lower income families, not subsidized but lower income. There was an opening so we took a look and the apt looked good; but we were still not sure what we were going to do...

Later today we got a call from our current landlord. He asked if we could come up and see him for a couple of minutes. He informed us that it was not working out and we informed him that we agreed, it was no longer the place for us to be. He also needed the apt open to renovate so he could sell it. Honestly two hours before this conversation we were on our knees asking the Lord whether moving was the best option. Wow how fast the Lord works!

So now we are moving into a different apt and starting to pay rent again, so any one who is availible and feels like driving to Cedar City we are moving on Tuesday and Wednesday. HE HE HE!!!

Even though we ar glad to no longer be managing and we know that we are going were the Lord needs us...I wonder how long we will be in that apt? We are still really hoping for the other place to open up, and we know that the amount in rent is going to throw us for a loop. But I have this voice in the back of my head (my husband) telling me that the Lord will put us where he needs us, and give us the means to stay there. I just hope I have the faith to trust him in the mean time.

You always look back at these experiences and laugh at the way you freaked out, or smile at how great things worked out. But in the here and now, i'm still freaked and still wondering...

Pray for us (me) please!

Unknown Tests

I have most of my classes on the Monday, Wednesday, Friday, block. So today (Wednesday), I went to my classes. The last class of the day is Microbiology, and we had a test today. We were told that the test was on Chapters 4 and 5, so I studied for them last night pretty well, with the study guides, and had Katy quiz me with them as well.

I was feeling pretty confident with myself; and went to class. The test was 88 questions long, and it started out great and all then it started to get weird... It started to have questions that had nothing to do with what I studied.. what was I supposed to do?

Well, I started to answer them with some skeptisism, not knowing what to expect.... I am blogging this becuase i wanted to know if you guys have ever had this happen to you before; a professor telling you that the test is on such and such of chapters, then turning and throwing in some questions that he never mentioned? I think that they shouldn't do that. Anyway. I'm done.

Hey

So I have not blogged in a day or so, so...

Life for the Huntsman's is pretty much same old same old! We are loving Cedar, even though we wish we could be closer to family we really have no desire to live in Utah county with all the hussel and bussel. We really enjoyed visiting though and love seeing every one!

My job is going well, we are trying to find a way to have me home this summer, or at least cut my 38 hours down to 20, then we can still keep the benefits we get from my job, but i can see my boy more. We are patiently waiting for some really great apt to open up, but if you know me at all this is really not one of my forte's. I would rather know right now, then wait...maybe the Lord is trying to teach me something??

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and the gifts. It is nice when you get something you were not expecting.

Chad continues to press on with school. He is so bright and will do so well, but he gets bored with subjects that are not in his field. He so badly just wants to start teaching, he is an amazing teacher! I have no doubt that he will have a very large impact on many of his students lives. But again its that patients thing we Huntsmans are so good at!?!

Well that is our life. We love you all and hope you all have a great day!

Chad, Katy and Braxton!

Family!!!

What a fun night that was with a lot of the family at dinner but we failed to mention the poor waiter who was left to the 28+ of us!! I could not understand why there were not two waiters helping us, that is a really big group to do all on your own. He did a great job I thought concidering the size of our party.

Trisha commented on our family and how fun it use to be haveing everyone over in the summer time. Does any one remember the time Zanny and I were grounded for talking "all night"? We woke up the next morning I think we were all going to go to Seven Peaks or something. Any way I guess zanny and I had been talking in our sleep and we were told the next morning that because we were up all night talking we could not go? Does any one remember this? Zanny? Is she blogging?

I believe it was my sisters who violently protested saying "she talks in her sleep!", and "she can carry on full conversations in her sleep!". I think it was ultimatley my mom stepping in and saying that it was true. Zanny and I did end up going to the pool with every one else, but it was a close call.

" Memories" la la la

Lol good morning! KATY

Temple

We went to the temple tonight with my entier family and a lot of the extended family. It was great and i really enjoyed mysefl. I am never surprized how much i love it when I am there, but occationally I am surprised at the thoughts and feelings I get, The amswers to prayers ask for and even more shocking the answers to thoughts not asked. If that makes any sence? Sorry if it does not! Any way I love my husband more everytime we go and he never ceases to amaze me with his insight and connection with the Lord and the direction of our family!

I know that was a short blog but I just needed to say that! Love you all and I am glad i am seeing most of you! Holly i miss you, I some what know how it feels to be away when every one else is close! I love you and hope to see you soon. good night all KATY

We might as well be moving!

shortly put, whenever we go somewhere we have to pack up so much stuff now that we have a kid, that its like moving! We just finished making a list for things to bring so wouldn't forget, and its long!

We love to go see family, but it seems that every time we go up its not relaxing! we have to play the family game. Who do we go see?, How long do we see people?. Now don't get me wrong we love seeing everyone. but some of them are more pushy then others, none that are reading this blog... :) We like our weekends because our weeks are so busy we really get to spend time with eachother. Now if we don't see you during the week, its not we don't love you, its just that we want to spend time with eachother.

We love you all. See you soon!

Life or something close to it!

There are moments in our life were we think about what we are doing and realize that maybe its not what we need to be doing at the time. Too often I find myself going through life thinking i know how things should go; and the Lord so very nicely puts me back into place. Tonight I believe was one of those nights.

Chad went to work out at around 7:45 and I stayed home, I was talking to his father on IM. Chad's dad is a wildlife firefighter, and works for the state, not the BLM. Chad fought fires last summer and has been offered a job this summer. We had decided that we wanted Chad to get through school quicker, so he was going to take summer school and I would keep working. While I was sitting at home typeing away talking to Chad's dad, he explained to me how much money Chad could be making working again. It became clear that one of the main reasons I am not as happy as I would like to be is because I am not home were I want to be! I am not here with my son as much as I would like. So there is a chance of Chad working again this summer and me staying home with my boy! Now this is all still way up in the air but I dont think the thought would enter if it was not something that we should concider?

Although it is so hard now and it seems like things are constenly changing I know the Lord is doing it to teach us great leasons that he simply can not teach in the classroom. I just hope that our spirits are in tune with his! Who knows what tommrrow will bring I just hope we are ready!

Manager Mayhem

What I am about to tell you didn't happen today, nor did it happen over one day. I just thought that I would like to vent like my wife.

My wife and I have been managers for almost a full year. It was a little bit of a shell shock to do some of the things that John (the boss) asked us; first of all, he expects us to know everything that he does, by the time we move in.. I don't know why he thinks that...

Anyway, after a very busy summer of tending to Patrons staying only days at a time for the Shakespearean Festival we started to get tenants staying for the school year. Now, we manage 13 apartments, ours included. Ten of them are used for singles up to 6 people in one apartment. then there is ours and 2 others, the other 2 are usually rented out to married couples. and we rented one of them to this couple that seemed fine. A couple of weeks went by and they would ask us to do something or another, and if we could I would oblige, if I couldn't then I would pass it on to the office, and have them to take care of it. They seemed to be a little "High Maintanence", but we were able to take care of it.

Once we had the first snow storm late at night so I went outside and started to shovel the now accumulated 9 inches! Now you have to know that we have alot of sidewalk to shovel, so i had my work cut out for me. You also have to know that the parking lot is not something that I am equipped for, John comes out when he can and plows the parking lots. As I was finishing up with the sidewalks, the "High Maintanence" couple came home, and I started to strike up a conversation because they were unable to get into the parking lot with their unprepared car.
I said, "how are you guys?"
"good, but we can't get into our parking stall"
"would you like me to shovel your parking stall so you don't have to deal with that mess?"
"yeah, that would be great, and also could you plow the entry way so we can get in?"
"I can't, John comes out when he can to plow the lots; he won't be out til tomorrow because its really late." (its was about 10:45 pm)
And that was the end of the conversation as they walked up to their apartment. Later on that night, I glanced out of our window and saw that there was another 3-4 inches on the ground. All of my work was in vain!!! ahhh!! So I decided to go back out and at least shovel a path for all of the apartments. Once I made it outside, I heard so shovelling.... Who would do that? So I walked over to where the noise was coming from, and I saw the guy shoveling the parking lot to his parking stall! I piped up and said, " Hey, I'm sorry if I didn't get all of your parking stall, I thought that was all of it." I thought that he was going to say something back like: "it's alright, i just wanted to have a little more cleared out." BUT I GOT NOTHING!!! HE DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT ME!!! Oh well. I left.

That was what I guess you could call the start of everything, but it just seemed to escalate from there. from wanting to get the gutter fixed in front of their doorstep. (which we can't get fixed til the summer anyway) to not being able to park their scooter in its own stall. This is where it boils down. The other day, I guess something happened where they either scratched someones car with the scooter, or someone thinks they did. I don't know and I don't deal with that either. Anyway, so the day after that the guy came over all huffed up and demanded on why they couldn't have a parking stall for his scooter... We just had to remind him that when he moved in, we said that they could only have one parking stall for both vehichles. he was pissed, and left. The next day after that, I decided to go over to his home to see if I could resolve everything. I couldn't. We got into the same arguement as before, and so i decided to just leave it. I told him that just as long as they only use one parking stall, i will be fine. He yelled back at me, "You bettor not boot my car!"
I turned around and asked what he would do if I did.
"I guess you will just have to find out."
"fine." and I left. As I left, I heard the door SLAM!!

To make this long story shorter than it could be. Katy and I discussed with the Apartment office that we might have to evict them if things escalate anymore. So, yesterday they came over early in the morning, and told us that they were going to move out. WHAT!? Did I actually hear right? they were moving? I did, they said they were going to move out by next week, and asked for a checkout sheet. I gave it to them and left. right after that, I called Katy at work and told her that they were moving. She was just as excited as I was. we were finally going to no longer have the issues that they have caused with us and other tenants (remember how I said that I made this sorty short?).

Anyway, I thought I would share this story with all of you, and those who have managed apartments before can relate to this. And all others, I hope that you don't have to deal with this kind of stress ever.

Thanks for everything. And we love you all.

Today People SUCK!!!!

So the hunstman's have some venting to do, sorry for all of you that don't like listening to us whine and complain but that is ok you don't have to read this!!!! Sorry I had a very bad day at work.

First of all I am very good at my job. I hit my sales goals every quarter and usually exceed them, so I don't need some over bearing, smug gay man asking me how many sales I have gotten that day, especially on a Saturday were there are only four of us to handle the work load of ten!!!!!!!!! Sales are the last thing on my mind. And I am sorry Troy you are not GOD, no matter how hard you try. (Troy is the "over bearing smug gay man" if you did not catch that)
He gets angy with us if we say anything that might "out him" to customers, but yet he wears a rainbow ring on his ring finger and talks more about Mike, his partner, than we do about our spouses. Get over it!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

Then with stupid people who are nothing but lazy. Really that is the only way to describe it. If I hear one more time "I don't know my account number" or "Can't you just fill it out for me" or "No I don't have my ID, but i do this all the time it's ok" or "Well so and so does it" or "The other banks will let me" or "I've been banking here for years, you don't need my ID" I will die!!!! I know my job and I know policy here is a quick disclaimer I wish i could tell every customer...

"To my dear customer,
Although the other bank will let you cash a check that is not in your name, I won't.
Although the other teller will let you use some one elses account to cash checks, I won't.
Although you have bank with this bank for X amount of years, I don't know you and will not cash the check with out ID. Roll your eyes all you want. Sorry for trying to protect you.
You can just assume that if my computer says not to do it, I won't do it. If bank policies say not to do it, I won't.
So if you are looking for something to be done under the table or not with in policy peramiters I would suggest waiting for the next teller. Thank you"

I love my job and I know that all this crap is something I will find no matter were I go in the banking world. But it does not make it any easier to deal with every single day with almost every single transaction!!! Why is it that we all just assume we are the exception to the rule!!! YOUR NOT!!!

Thanks for listening to me vent. I'm sorry so angry, you might want to sensor for your children, or dogs!!

Taxes

Usually when I think of taxes I dread the thought of figuring out how much money I gave the government that year! It is usally me just giving Chad our W-2's and having him do all the work, I have the greatest Husband. We thought it was great to have a total return of $500 last year, which of course was gone before it even hit our account. If this sounds all to familliar, I'm so sorry; the dread of taxes never seems to go away. But then...
WE HAD A BABY!!!!!! WOW!!!!
This year we went to H & R Blocks website and did a quick tax esimator with our W-2's. The return amount was much higher than we expected. We thought it was just H & R Block "puffin smoke " so I printed the paper and took it with me to our local H & R Block. I handed it to the young women that was helping me and told her that if she could not get close to that amount I was not going to pay the $200 fee they would charge us. Chad and I would do our taxes ourselves. I, for the first time in my life, only had one W-2 and Chad had three, I took all of our info into the office handed it all to the young women and waited. About an hour, and twenty or thirty questions later the young women turned her computer to show me a return that was ALOT more than last year. She chuckled and said "I know you wanted the amount on that print out. But how about a little more?"
The return in actually enough that Chad and I are trying to decide what to do with the large sum...have you ever in your life wondered how to spend money? I guess the reason why we are thinking about it so much is because we want to be smart with it and not blow it on aimless things that will not benefit us finacially in the long run but...
I know that this blog entry makes it sound like I only think that my son is a great tax cut, and quite honestly, he is. :) but being a mom is the greatest thing, and no amount of money could add up to the joy it brings! I hope that this entry hasn't been to "taxing", lol! And I wish you luck with your taxes this year. Love you all! (as always) Love, Katy

It's a "Whole New World".

We are new to this whole blogging thing, and we thought that we would try it out because most of our family is doing it (isn't that what you do? the things others are doing?) We are HORRIBLE at writing notable moments in our life down, so we figured that blogging would be the best way to keep us on our toes to remember.
Let me tell you a little about ourselves. (I, being Chad, will not be the only one writing in this, My wife, Katy, will too. So if you ever find yourself a little confused on the phrasing, or the point of view; just remember that we are both using this.) We currently live out our days here in the little city of Cedar City. It's a nice place, we moved here for school. I am working on getting my degree and this is where we decided that we needed to be. For now Katy works at a bank as a Teller, which she has been doing a great job for over a year now.
We mentioned that we have a beautiful baby boy in our lives (in our profile.) His name is Braxton. He is just about 5 months old, and he is so much fun! Isn't it strange how once you have a kid the little things in life are so much more meaningful? I mean, I am totally stoked to tell you all that Braxton is rolling from his tummy to his back all the time now. We both think its because he can't see much that way with out putting a crick in his neck, so he turns over to see the world. I am also excited to tell you that he smiles ALL THE TIME, and laughes quite a bit as well. You never really understand what your parents mean when they say, "They grow up just so fast." until you have one of your own, and truely realize that they are going to be asking you to borrow the car sooner than you think. That's when you start to worry about all of the things you've done growing up, and wonder if he (or she if you have a girl) is going to try and test the odds and repeat some of the things you did.... It's always a thought in the back of my head, but I try not to think about it too much.
I hope that what we have started here keeps going, and that we can enjoy any comments that you guys leave for us...
