Taxes

Usually when I think of taxes I dread the thought of figuring out how much money I gave the government that year! It is usally me just giving Chad our W-2's and having him do all the work, I have the greatest Husband. We thought it was great to have a total return of $500 last year, which of course was gone before it even hit our account. If this sounds all to familliar, I'm so sorry; the dread of taxes never seems to go away. But then...
WE HAD A BABY!!!!!! WOW!!!!
This year we went to H & R Blocks website and did a quick tax esimator with our W-2's. The return amount was much higher than we expected. We thought it was just H & R Block "puffin smoke " so I printed the paper and took it with me to our local H & R Block. I handed it to the young women that was helping me and told her that if she could not get close to that amount I was not going to pay the $200 fee they would charge us. Chad and I would do our taxes ourselves. I, for the first time in my life, only had one W-2 and Chad had three, I took all of our info into the office handed it all to the young women and waited. About an hour, and twenty or thirty questions later the young women turned her computer to show me a return that was ALOT more than last year. She chuckled and said "I know you wanted the amount on that print out. But how about a little more?"
The return in actually enough that Chad and I are trying to decide what to do with the large sum...have you ever in your life wondered how to spend money? I guess the reason why we are thinking about it so much is because we want to be smart with it and not blow it on aimless things that will not benefit us finacially in the long run but...
I know that this blog entry makes it sound like I only think that my son is a great tax cut, and quite honestly, he is. :) but being a mom is the greatest thing, and no amount of money could add up to the joy it brings!
